Lanmark join the fun and games, at Miniclip.com, the internet's largest online games website
In Central London, there are a group of people who spend their working day in a playful mode. Or, at least, you might think so. Miniclip.com, the internet’s largest award-winning online games website, is attracting 43 million unique users per month. So, it’s no wonder that they have doubled in size over the last six months and are looking to expand even further. With 40 employees, based in its London, Miami and Estonia offices, the games experts no longer have time for the day to day administrative operations which are vital to any business and have turned to Lanmark for all their IT needs.
Jeremy Wadia, the Chief Operating Officer, explains, "When we expanded six months ago, we moved offices. Lanmark provided us with a seamless transfer of end-users and all the technologies that accompany each and every one. In addition, Lanmark inspired, designed and installed an impressive visual expression of our business with high-definition audio visual technology, which demonstrates our own games expertise to visitors on their arrival. Importantly, and as a global company, we required a solution that would allow us consistently and securely co-ordinate information, store important data, and communicate with our employees. Lanmark provided us with a secure wireless-area-network (WAN) and a state-of-the-art voice-over-IP telephone system."
"Since then, Lanmark's Managed Service has provided support to our UK and US offices, ensuring the safe and secure storage of essential data, such as games’ graphics, contracts and email, all of which we can access at a moment notice in the event of a server failure. Most of all, we trust Lanmark to provide us with the best advice on the technologies that we should be implementing to support our growth."
Miniclip.com benefits from Lanmark's current Managed Services package, which includes: helpdesk support; secure backup; IT security and regular reports. Lanmark was recommended to Miniclip.com.
Publishing company, Route One, Depend on Lanmark for secure support of content
Route One Publishing, a leading international publisher of specialist magazines, has been supported by Lanmark's Managed Services since April 2006. Founded in 1991, with its head office in Swanley, Kent and additional employees in Nottingham and in New Zealand, Route One relies on Lanmark to support 24 of its employees worldwide.
James Howard, Internet Services and Marketing Director, is responsible for the company’s network infrastructure and reviewing new products and services on the market. He says, "More than five years ago, Route One encountered numerous problems due to an inefficient service from an external provider. We turned to Lanmark to fix those problems, and we’ve never looked back. As a publishing company, we are held responsible for the archiving and security of our written content, and that includes emails. In a business that receives approx 20,000 emails every day, we need Lanmark to ensure emails are delivered, without interruption, and in a timely and secure way on a 24/7/365 basis."
By adopting Lanmark's Managed Service, Route One Publishing benefits from a proactive monitoring service. Mr Howard continues, "Lanmark will find and fix any problems before they impact our business. We also benefit from a backup service which means that our content is held securely offsite and is available to us promptly in the event of an internal server failure."
Lanmark has worked with Mr Howard to support Route One Publishing's infrastructure growth, providing professional support and advice on products and solutions from the beginning.
"Thanks to Lanmark, we are victims of our own success as our employees now have such high expectations of an ongoing untroubled service"
High flyers, Zero Octa, opt for external IT support to support business and address footprint
Cherry Curd is an Office Manager for Zero Octa, a company which offers the world’s finest revenue management, integrity and audit solutions to the airline industry.
Based in Hampton, Surrey, Zero Octa has a relatively small team of employees, all of whom need to be in regular contact with the other 340 employees based in India, New Zealand and the US.
Cherry's role is to oversee the day-to-day management of the UK-based Head Office, and that includes IT. She says, "Two years ago, I decided to opt for an outsourced solution to manage and support all of our IT requirements, so not to put the strain on internal resources. I needed a company that I could trust, to understand our organisation and the way that we work, and to develop the right tools and techniques to support us. Through its provision of Managed Services, Lanmark do just that. Like many companies, we had a problem with huge quantities of spam mail reaching our servers. I trusted Lanmark to recommend the most appropriate products and solutions to solve that problem, which they did."
Most recently, Zero Octa has chosen to install video-conferencing. This will enable them to conduct online meetings with their overseas colleagues, saving time, energy and reducing their carbon footprint by minimising travel. Lanmark has been instrumental in providing Zero Octa with the right solution for the business.
"Most of all, Lanmark are a nice bunch of chaps and they are always happy to assist, either in person or remotely. They are fair, reliable and honest and that counts for a lot these days."
Ensuring data protection is major motive for choosing Lanmark's managed services
The protection and security of data has become a necessity for a vast majority of companies. Internal IT resources are often strained when required to keep up-to-date with the phenomenal growth of external threats, especially those designed to access and steal confidential data.
A company that has chosen to outsource its IT requirements, including the management and security of confidential information is the Foresight Group, a leading investor in unquoted companies.
Kate Henderson, Marketing and Investor Relations Executive, explains, "As a company that holds sensitive financial data at its helm, which often can only be accessed by a number of individuals within the business, we have to ensure that the data is managed appropriately, accessed accordingly and held within a secure environment. To do this, we appoint Lanmark and have been a satisfied customer of theirs for many years."
The Foresight Group employs 25 people and has its UK head office in Sevenoaks, Kent. Formed in 1984, the company has worked with Lanmark for several years, and recently adopted its Managed Services offering (MSP). As the company began to experience exponential growth in recent years, Lanmark’s MSP provided them with a cost-effective, reliable and efficient way to manage their IT needs.
"Lanmark has shown that it understands our business and the way that we work, it can manage the convergence of new and used technologies, it has demonstrated efficiency in major upheavals, including office moves, and I have been delighted by its rapid response in times of need."
The Foresight Group continues to work with a minimal IT function, and recommends Lanmark’s MSP choice as a valuable alternative to any business.
